Sunset view

Where the bay keeps the last light

On the heights above Saint-Jean, the bay lies open below. Turquoise water curves toward white sand, the islets drift at the edge of the ocean, and the short runway of Rémy-de-Haenen draws its line between hill and sea. Small planes rise and settle against the green slopes, and the day moves at the pace of the water. Then the evening turns west, the light slows to gold, and the bay does not simply darken... it glows. This is a view that never quite repeats itself.

Built in 1999 in the Caribbean tradition, Villa KER ANNA is a house of open volumes and easy passages, where white timber ceilings rise above terracotta floors and every room seems to lean toward the sea. A path through palms and tropical planting leads to the entrance. At its heart, a generous living space gathers kitchen, dining and salon into one, then spills out onto the terraces and toward the infinity pool, the bay in view at every turn. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, offer comfort and quiet seclusion. A jacuzzi sits at the edge of the deck, while below the villa, a small bungalow with its own parking awaits complete renovation. On 0.552 acre of land, the property holds a rarer quality still: the proportions for a future owner to reimagine it entirely. Saint-Jean and Gustavia lie minutes away, yet here the evening belongs to the bay.
